Affiliate Disclosure
OilCompare is committed to transparency. This page explains how our service is funded and how we maintain editorial independence in our heating oil price comparisons.
How OilCompare Is Funded
OilCompare is a free-to-use price comparison service. We earn revenue through affiliate commissions — when you click through to a supplier from our site and place an order, we may receive a small referral fee from that supplier. This commission comes from the supplier, not from you, and does not increase the price you pay for your heating oil in any way.
Which Suppliers Pay Commissions?
Some, but not all, of the suppliers listed on OilCompare have affiliate or referral arrangements with us. The presence or absence of a commercial relationship does not affect which suppliers appear in your results or in what order they are displayed. All suppliers who deliver to your area and meet our quality standards are shown in our comparison results.
Editorial Independence
Our comparison results are based solely on the prices suppliers offer for your postcode and order quantity. We do not accept payment to rank suppliers higher, nor do we manipulate results to favour suppliers with whom we have commercial arrangements. The cheapest price for your specific delivery is always shown first, regardless of our affiliate status with that supplier.
How Prices Are Displayed
All prices shown on OilCompare are fetched in real time from supplier pricing systems. We display the price per litre (pence per litre, or ppl) as quoted by each supplier.
Our Content & Guides
The articles, guides, and tools on OilCompare are written and maintained by our editorial team. Our content is designed to help UK homeowners make informed decisions about their heating oil purchases. Where a guide or article mentions a specific product or service, this is based on our editorial judgement and is not influenced by commercial relationships.
Advertising
OilCompare may display advertisements on some pages through third-party advertising networks such as Google AdSense. These advertisements are clearly distinguishable from our editorial content and comparison results. Advertising revenue helps us maintain and improve our free comparison service.
ASA & FTC Compliance
This disclosure is made in compliance with the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) guidelines and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) requirements for transparency in online comparison services. We are committed to honest, clear, and fair communication with our users. If you have any questions about our affiliate relationships, please contact us.
