Emergency Heating Oil Planner
Estimate days left and the minimum buffer you need before delivery.
How long will an emergency top-up last?
100L
10 days
200L
20 days
500L
50 days
700L
70 days
Smaller 100L and 200L figures are planning estimates, not normal tanker order sizes. Many standard heating oil deliveries start around 500L, so urgent smaller top-ups may need a specialist local arrangement and can cost more per litre.
Low tank? Check whether additive treatment helps after the refill
Use the additive calculator to model sludge, maintenance, and efficiency assumptions once your urgent delivery is planned.
Emergency ordering checks
Check the gauge twice
Tank gauges can stick. If the reading looks wrong, dip the tank safely or ask your supplier before relying on the number.
Compare the delivery buffer
A cheaper standard delivery may be false economy if it arrives after your estimated run-out date.
Emergency heating oil FAQs
How long will 100 litres of heating oil last?+
It depends on daily usage. At 10 litres per day, 100 litres lasts about 10 days. In cold weather or a larger property it may last less, so use your own daily-use estimate in the planner.
Can I order a 100 litre emergency heating oil delivery?+
Usually not as a normal tanker quote. Many standard deliveries start around 500 litres, while smaller top-ups may need specialist, containerised, or local emergency arrangements and can cost more per litre.
What should I do if I am about to run out of heating oil?+
Compare urgent delivery options, reduce heating use where safe, and avoid letting sludge from the bottom of the tank reach the boiler. If the boiler stops, ask an OFTEC technician whether it needs bleeding or servicing.
